Kensington Gardens Bowls Club Home Games - May 2022

Kensington Gardens Bowls Club are inviting you to their home games throughout May. There are even opportunities to enjoy taking part in some informal games, free of charge!

Come along and enjoy an afternoon or evening in Kensington Gardens to watch the bowls and enjoy the excellent Cafe.

 

Benacre League - Mondays starting at 6:45pm

23rd May vs Outon Broad

 

Lowestoft & District League - Tuesdays starting 6:45pm

10th May vs Kessingland A

17th May vs Kessingland B

31st May vs Somerleyton

 

B.E. Men's Triples League - Wednesdays starting 6:30pm

11th May vs Bungay

25th May vs Thurlton

 

Sunshine League - Thursdays starting 2pm

12th May vs Bradwell Beech

 

Kensington Garden Bowls Club invites all bowlers of any age, to come along on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm or Sunday mornings at 10am for our informal games, free of charge.

New "Happy to Chat" Bench unveiled at Kensington Gardens

29 April 2022

Lowestoft Town Council were delighted to collaborate with East Suffolk Council and Waveney Norse to install a "Happy to Chat" bench in Kensington Gardens which was officially launched today.
Cllr Alan Green, Mayor of Lowestoft, alongside fellow councillors and representatives from East Suffolk Council, Norse and Friends of Kensington Gardens attended the launch of the bench which encourages people to sit and talk to each other, surrounded by the beautiful gardens.
The Council are pleased to support such an initiative in one of its parks, with its aim of supporting the well-being of the people in Lowestoft.

#NoMowMay campaign launched to encourage people to leave their lawns and help nature

29 April 2022

Launching on 29th April, conservation charity PlantLife are encouraging people to leave their lawns throughout May to help with pollinators and to create a habitat for bees to thrive.

Lowestoft Town Council are encouraging people to take part in this campaign as part of its Climate Emergency Declaration as we look at ways to promote how we can best look after and protect our planet.

#NoMowMay is a national campaign with lots of resources online to help and give advice on how to help nature thrive.

Open Events with Kensington Garden Bowls Club

Kensington Gardens Bowls Club are welcoming everyone to come and try out Lawn Bowls for free at their upcoming open events. These include:

Open Bowls Weekend | Saturday 30th April - Sunday 1st May | 10am-4pm

Introduction to Bowls | Saturday 8th May | 10am

Both of these events are free and do not require advanced booking. Please wear flat footwear.

Keeping Lowestoft Tidy

A Community Litter Pick, organised for Wednesday 6th April in collaboration with "Lowestoft Rubbish Friends" and Water Lane Leisure Centre was a great success! The team of volunteers were able to make a real difference around the Water Lane Leisure Centre area.
A big thank you to everyone who attended from "Lowestoft Rubbish Friends" and Water Lane Leisure Centre, alongside staff from Lowestoft Town Council, who helped make a difference to the area (and thank you Water Lane Leisure Centre for the free cups of tea!)
More community litter picks will be arranged in the future so please keep an eye out on our website and social media for the details.

Lowestoft Town Council awards funding to the Kittiwake Partnership

1 April 2022

Lowestoft Town Council are pleased to confirm that it has awarded £10,000 to Lowestoft Vision, for the part-funding of the salary for a Kittiwake Officer for 12 months. The role will involve working with local people and businesses to keep Kittiwakes safe, whilst aiming to reduce the issues associated with their nests on buildings.

The Ravine closed temporarily due to storm damage

1 April 2022

News Update: It has been reported to Lowestoft Town Council the Ravine has been damaged due to strong winds - our contractors are currently undertaking work to make sure the area is safe and secure. The works will be ongoing over the weekend until early next week(04/04/22). We will keep you updated with further information.
