Traffic Monitoring Sensors Installation

15 July 2021

A new generation of traffic sensors are being installed across a number of locations in the County. The Vivacity sensor is intended to capture the number of pedestrian, cycle and vehicle movements all year round, to get a better understanding of the current numbers and seasonal trends.

There will be a total of 20 sensors across Suffolk installed, which together will enable Suffolk County Council Transport Strategy Team to better judge the success or need for any future transport related schemes in the area. In Lowestoft two censors will be installed, one on Dell Road and the second on Bridge Road.

The system is fully GDPR compliant as it does not actually store any personal information, just summary information with no pictures.
