A wreath laying ceremony will take place on Monday 28th January to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day. Wreaths will be lain by Lowestoft Mayor Ian Graham, District Councillor Frank Mortimer and the Waveney Youth Council in memory of those killed in the Holocaust and the genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. A moment of reflection will then take place lead by Rev. Matthew Payne.

At 2.00 pm in Kensington Gardens, the Town Council will unveil a new memorial plaque by the tree planted in 2002 to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. The short ceremony will be lead by the Town Mayor Councillor Ian Graham with pupils from East Point Academy providing their thoughts on remembering the Holocaust and other acts of genocide and members of the Friends of Kensington Gardens will be in attendance. Please join us for the unveiling and reflection.

The Town Council is holding two information sessions for members of the public to find out more about becoming a Town Councillor. The first session will be at 11am on Friday 18th January and the second session will be at 6pm on Monday 18th February. The information session will cover aspects such as the roles and duties of a Councillor, the role of the Town Council, eligibility of individuals to stand as a Councillor and much more. The Town Clerk and current Town Councillors will be at both sessions and will answer any questions you may have about standing for the Town Council.
