The state funeral for Her Majesty The Queen will take place at 11am on Monday 19 September. This day will be a national Bank Holiday to allow people to pay their respects to Her Majesty and commemorate Her reign, while marking the final day of the period of national mourning.
The public, and our councillors and staff may wish to join the nation in commemorating the life of Her Majesty The Queen and watch the service at home, or participate in related local or national events. Schools are also expected to close on this day.
Our Council office will be closed on Monday 19 September. We will not be facilitating leisure activities or running ordinary events on that day.
We understand that essential public services will continue to be provided by the relevant authorities.
