Wed, Oct. 23, 2019 10:00am — 12:00pm
Location: Sparrows Nest Park
The Ness, the UK’s most easterly park, and East Coast College are delivering a series of ‘Beach Schools’, using the environment to captivate the interests of children and young people.
Beach School is an innovative way of teaching using coastlines to promote wellbeing, an awareness of our environment and our responsibility towards caring for it.
Beach School delivers practical activities, learning about conservation, the tides and the moon using a ‘hands on Jaffa cake experiment’, rope tying and the creation of temporary artworks. The sessions may also include mindfulness exercises, relaxation, and meditation. A key strength of this approach is improving mental and emotional wellbeing, learning the ability to be in nature and how the environment can ground us, help us to control our emotions and to feel at peace.
The Autumn Beach School, which is free for families to join, is on Wednesday 23 October from 10am – 12pm, meeting at Lowestoft Maritime Museum and returning after an educational and fun journey around Sparrows Nest, North Lowestoft.
*Please be sure to dress for the weather – this is an all year round approach and events won’t be stopped by a bit of wild wind and rain!*
