  • James Thornton and Martin Goodman: "Poetry & Planet"

    The New Statesman has named James as one of 10 people who could change the world. James Thornton and Martin Goodman between them encompass the worlds of International law, environmental action, publishing , writing and poetry. For "The New Curiosity Shop" they will be sharing their passions for "Poetry and the Planet"

    Together James and Martin tell the story of "Client Earth" one of the world's most ambitious environmental organisations. It works across borders, systems and sectors, using the law to protect life on earth.

    James will also be reading from "Waymarks' His most recent collection of poetry which tracks significant personal encounters with the natural world, around the globe. An Ethiopian lake, an Australian rainforest, an American desert, a Suffolk beach: the stage keeps changing, but the intent stays the same.   • Scores Race 2022

    The 2022 Scores Race, a unique race in Britain’s most easterly town, will take place again on Sunday 28th August with huge thanks to our sponsors Lowestoft Town Council, Birds Eye and Molecular-UK. The senior race (16 years +) will start at 2:30pm, and the Junior race (9-15 years) will start at 2.35pm.

    Sat, Sep. 10, 2022 10:00am — 3:00pm

    Join us on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th 10:00 -15:00 when the Town Hall will be open for tours of the Council chamber. You’ll also be able to find out more about the Town Hall restoration project, pop up exhibitions on the Town Hall’s history and local industries, plus information about the local museums and what they have to offer. You can catch a ride up to the High street on a East Anglia Transport Museum heritage bus too!

  • CANCELLED: HODS: A Trifle from Lowestoft- an exploration of experimental porcelain from the 18th century

    We’re bringing history into the 21st century; Lowestoft Museum’s priceless porcelain pugs are getting an upgrade! Tim Cross, local ceramic artist, has 3D scanned the pugs and they’ll be 3D printed in Lowestoft Ceramic Studio shop window throughout the HOD's festival. This pair of extremely rare Lowestoft porcelain pugs were recently acquired by Lowestoft Museum and are available to see in the Lowestoft Porcelain gallery in the Museum. There will also be a video of the 3D scanning process which can be seen at the Museum and also Lowestoft Heritage Workshop Centre
