Heritage Open Days are events where historic buildings around the country are opened up for the public to explore. Over the course of 10 days over 80 locations will opened including the Town Hall, the Marina Theatre and the Lowestoft Maritime Museum. All events are free however some events may need pre-booking. To celebrate Heritage Open Days in Lowestoft The Ness, with local author and poet Dean Parkin as quizmaster, has devised a quiz for the town.
Sep. 14 - 15, 2019 10:00am — 4:00pm
As part of the Heritage Open Days the Lowestoft Town Hall will be open to the public. There will be guided tours throughout both days as well as a number of information stalls run by various groups including the Heritage Action Zone, the Dockside Dandies, Making Waves and the Ness Park.

Following the success of last year's event, Lowestoft Town Council is again hosting a Macmillan Coffee morning, at its offices in Hamilton House, Battery Green Road, Lowestoft. Please be advised that no parking is available at Hamilton House, but limited on street parking is available, along with pay and display car parks on Battery Green Road and Whapload Road.

As part of a two day fundraiser, Ruckus karate instructor and former World Champion, Kinsey Foster, is holding an all-day event, where members of the public can participate in a challenge in one of several categories, to win a trophy or be crowned the town's Top Puncher or Top Kicker. Find out how many ounces of kicks you can do on a punch bag within a given time. Further information about the categories is available through the event's Facebook page. Entry forms can be requested by emailing lowestoftkarate@gmail.com or can be picked up from Ruckus MMA Gym. Entry is £2 per adult and £1 per child, with all funds being donated to the Motor Neuron Disease Association, in memory of local foster carer Stephen Wilson, who passed away from MND on 30 June 2019. Stephen's widow Lisa is part of the fundraising team.
