At the Full Council meeting of on 25 June, the Lowestoft Town Council declared a climate emergency. This declaration puts in to policy what the council has been doing all along, which is to make choices which are eco-friendly. We understand as a council that small choices by individuals can add up to big changes and so everyday actions by the council will be to recycle, use carbon-neutral energy choices, and manage our parks and open spaces in as environmentally responsible way as we can. More information can be found at https://climateemergency.uk

At the meeting it was also agreed to trial free WiFi in Sparrows Nest. If successful, the Town Council will consider a roll out free WiFi in all its parks in the Town. The first trial will be developed in partnership with East Point Business Services. Nightingale Road Play Park will be the next one of our open spaces to be refurbished with new play equipment with £35,000 funding agreed at the meeting.
A new robe is needed for the Town Mayor. The Town Council is open to design suggestions. Do you have the skills to design, cut and create a new robe? We would be thrilled if the Mayor of Lowestoft could be clothed in a robe made in the town. Please contact the email address below to make an expression of interest.
