Lowestoft Town Council is proud to announce that it has been named joint winner of the Suffolk Council of the Year award at the Suffolk Community Awards.
As a relatively young council, having been formed in 2017, this recognition represents a significant milestone for the organisation and highlights the positive impact it has made across the town in less than a decade. Serving a community of more than 55,000 people at Suffolk’s most easterly point, the Town Council has continued to expand its services, projects and investment in the local area, working to improve opportunities, wellbeing and quality of life for residents.
Adding to the celebration, Lowestoft Town Council was also named winner of the Whole Community Health and Wellbeing Award, recognising its commitment to creating a healthier, more connected and inclusive community through a wide range of initiatives and partnerships.
Councillor Nasima Begum, Mayor of Lowestoft and Chair of Lowestoft Town Council, paid tribute to the councillors and officers whose dedication has helped deliver these achievements.
She said:
“These awards cement a foundation of service to the community which the Town Council fully intends to strengthen and expand.”
Councillor Begum also thanked the many officers, councillors, partners, volunteers and community organisations who have worked collaboratively with the Town Council to deliver projects and services that benefit residents across Lowestoft.
The Council would like to congratulate its fellow Suffolk Council of the Year winner, Brantham Parish Council, on their achievement. At the same time, Lowestoft Town Council extends its condolences and best wishes to the Brantham community following the recent events that have affected the parish.
These awards are a welcome recognition of the progress made since the Council’s formation and provide further encouragement as it continues to invest in the town, support local communities and deliver ambitious projects for the benefit of current and future generations.
