Hundreds Enjoy Active Day Out at Lowestoft’s Sports & Wellness Festival

Sparrows Nest Gardens was buzzing with energy, activity and community spirit as residents and visitors came together for the Sports & Wellness Festival on Sunday 30 August.

The free event welcomed people of all ages and abilities for a day dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles, wellbeing and community connections, showcasing the wide range of opportunities available across Lowestoft and the surrounding area.

Throughout the day, visitors had the chance to try a variety of free fitness sessions under the festival’s activity tent. From Pilates and Yoga to Boxercise and high-energy fitness classes, participants embraced the opportunity to discover new ways to stay active, meet local instructors and take part in activities suitable for all levels of experience.

The dedicated Cycling Zone proved popular with families and cycling enthusiasts alike, with visitors also taking on the temporary half-pipe. Meanwhile, the NR Rox challenge area attracted individuals looking to test their strength, endurance and determination in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Alongside the activities, the Sports & Wellbeing Village brought together a diverse range of local clubs, organisations and support services. Residents were able to learn more about opportunities to improve their physical and mental wellbeing, connect with community groups and explore new hobbies and interests.

The festival also offered plenty of opportunities to relax and socialise, with food and drink vendors helping to create a welcoming atmosphere throughout the day. Friends, families and visitors enjoyed spending time together while discovering everything the event had to offer.

As the afternoon drew to a close, many festival-goers stayed on to cheer the 450 participants in the Scores Race as they passed through Sparrows Nest, creating a fantastic atmosphere and providing encouragement for runners nearing the finish.

Lowestoft Town Council would like to thank all of the sports clubs, wellbeing organisations, instructors, community groups, volunteers and vendors who helped make the event such a success. Their enthusiasm, expertise and commitment played a vital role in creating an enjoyable and inclusive experience for everyone involved.

A special thank you also goes to everyone who attended, took part in activities, supported exhibitors and contributed to the positive atmosphere that made the day so memorable.

The Sports & Wellness Festival demonstrated the strength of Lowestoft’s community and highlighted the wealth of opportunities available locally to support active, healthy and connected lives.

We look forward to building on the success of this year’s festival and encouraging even more people to discover the benefits of sport, physical activity and wellbeing in the future.
