In parallel with our Climate Emergency Declaration, the Town Council has declared a Health Emergency in recognition of ongoing health concerns within our community.

Our plan includes:

  • Boosting sustainability: progressing their green strategy due to the link between health, climate, and well-being.
  • Localising initiatives: supporting national health programs and planting trees for environmental and community benefit.
  • Enhancing outdoor spaces: expanding allotments, improving parks, and promoting active transport (walking, cycling).
  • Partnerships & activities: collaborating on health initiatives, cultural events, and improving community centres and leisure facilities.
  • Healthy food & lifestyle: supporting food banks, promoting local produce, educating on nutrition and exercise, and encouraging water fountains in parks.
  • Pollution reduction: advocating for clean air and water.
