Black History Month Creative Writing and Visual Arts Competition
Our Creative Writing and Visual Arts Competition for Black History Month returns for 2025.
This annual competition sees local young people get creative as they are inspired by the lives of BAME people, past and present. Local schools also compete to see which school will win the Creative Writing and Visual Arts shields. 2024 saw Phoenix St Peter’s win the Visual Arts Shield for the second year in the row, with Oulton Broad Primary School win the Creative Writing Shield.
Competition 2025 – “Standing Firm Against Injustice”
For 2025, we’re marking the 60th anniversary of the creation of the Race Relations Act 1965 with our theme “Standing Firm Against Injustice”. The Race Relations Act 1965 banned racial discrimination in public places and was the first act of its kind.
