‘When Lowestoft Rocked’ celebrates the town’s vibrant musical heritage and invites residents young and old to work together to uncover, record and share Lowestoft’s musical stories from the 1960s to the early 2000s.
These decades saw legendary performances by artists including The Kinks, The Rolling Stones and The Yardbirds, home-grown 60s beat bands and modern acts like The Darkness.
Over the coming months the project will deliver a programme of creative workshops, retro performances, intergenerational events and hands-on music heritage activities, where people can work alongside one another to build skills, confidence and community pride.
The interaction from these events will contribute to an exhibition at the newly redeveloped Town Hall, complete with interactive displays and a lasting archive of memories, music and ephemera for future generations.
