Community Beach Clean organised to Launch Plastic Free Communities Campaign
Residents are being invited to take part in a community beach clean next month to mark the launch of Plastic Free Communities Lowestoft.
The clean-up will take place on Saturday 11 April 2026 and forms part of the national Surfers Against Sewage Big Million Mile Spring Clean, which encourages people across the UK to protect their local environment by clearing litter from beaches, parks and streets.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome to join the event, which Litter Free Lowestoft will supply the equipment for, and help remove litter from Lowestoft’s coastline, preventing plastic waste from entering the sea and harming marine life.
The beach clean will also mark the start of the town’s Plastic Free Communities initiative, spearheaded by Lowestoft Town Council, which aims to reduce single-use plastic by working with local residents, schools, businesses and community organisations.
Residents, families and local groups are all welcome to attend and equipment will be provided for volunteers. Participants are encouraged to wear suitable clothing for the weather.
