Apprenticeship Opportunity: Heritage Apprentice

Cultural Learning Participation – Level 3

18-month Apprenticeship from September 2025

37 hours per week

With work to transform Lowestoft Town Hall into a multifunctional building, including a permanent heritage gallery and information point, alongside a community gallery, exhibition space and arts and crafts space, progressing well, Lowestoft Town Council are announcing a new Heritage Apprentice Scheme to celebrate and support the future of local heritage.

The Heritage Apprentice role will help with the delivery of the activity programme which has been devised specifically to target groups currently under served by heritage. The role will also work closely with local heritage organisations as the successful applicant will work to inspire and enthuse people in local heritage.

The scheme will offer an entry level post aimed at providing opportunities for people, without a degree level qualification, a first step into working in the heritage sector. Once qualified, you could apply for engagement and collection management roles.

The apprenticeship will include one day a week training, either remote or in person at the Westminster Adult Education London Campus.

The Heritage Apprentice role is an exciting opportunity to develop skills in planning, delivering and managing cultural learning and participation activities as well as experience in collections and volunteer management. This role will provide many of the building blocks and skills required for a future career within heritage, culture, and arts.

Anyone who is interested in applying or finding out more should email Lowestoft Town Council at admin@lowestofttowncouncil.gov.uk. The closing date for applications is 4th July 2025.

The Lowestoft Town Hall Project is a Lowestoft Town Council initiative supported by National Lottery players via The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Other significant funders for the regeneration include Towns Fund and East Suffolk Council.
