Britten as a Boy

On Monday 17th November, the Town Council was delighted to receive a visit from Zeb Soanes and Ruth Wharrier from the “Britten As A Boy” project as they delivered our maquette of Benjamin Britten.

After three years of fundraising, the main statue was unveiled to the public on Monday 10th November along Lowestoft seafront. Lowestoft Town Council were a major donator to the fund to honour Lowestoft’s most-famous son and the recipient of the first Freedom of the Town, with our maquette showing our commitment to supporting the arts and our heritage.

The maquette is currently on display in our offices with plans for it to go on public display when the Town Hall reopens.

You can find out more about Benjamin Britten and the statue project online.
