Plaisir Visit in 2025

Sixteen people from Plaisir, our twin town, recently visited Lowestoft for a few days.

The first day started with a guided walk along the High Street as Ivan Bunn explained the history of the area. They visited the Lowestoft Museum, met our Mayor, had the developments at the Town Hall explained to them, and watched some films of old Lowestoft.

On the second day, they visited Bury St Edmunds. They began their day at the stunning St Edmundsbury Cathedral, admiring its beautiful architecture and peaceful atmosphere. Afterwards, they enjoyed a relaxing stroll through the Abbey Gardens. Later, they spent some time at the Shopping Centre, giving uthem a chance to pick up a few souvenirs.

On the third day, they tried something new by learning to play bowls, which turned out to be great fun. After that, they explored a Forties-themed event, complete with vintage music, costumes, and displays.. They finished the day with a visit to the Transport Museum, where they had the chance to ride on various forms of historic transport, both inside the museum and around the town.

On the last day, hosts and guests came together for a farewell meal at Broadlands, sharing memories, laughter, and appreciation for the time spent together.

Looking ahead, the Association will be taking a group from Lowestoft to Plaisir next year. If you are interested in joining the trip or would like to take part in any of our events throughout the year, please contact Richard on 01502 723648 or email lowestoftplaisirtwin@hotmail.co.uk for further information.
