There has been a recent influx of adults and children riding e-scooters in the local area, it is currently against the law to ride an e-scooter on a public road or pavement. The only place an e-scooter is authorised for use is on private land, with the landowners permission. E-scooters are classified as Personal Light Electric Vehicles (PLEVs), so they are treated as motor vehicles and subject to the same legal requirements. Police have the authority to seize these vehicles.
